Anyone up for a virtual pint of your favorite beer, folks? Just spot the builder of the fairlead below, and you'll get it!

For sake of transparency, I saw it on a boat that ain't from a mainstream builder: a beautiful 80 feet sloop built in Cape Town by SWS (Southern Wind Shipyard). So, for all I know, her fairleads, as well as many other deck components, could well be custom fabricated.
Otoh, I could use a pair of those things, if available without purchasing a whole yacht with them!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks P, but I'm aware of them.
In fact, I guess you don't remember (or didn't notice), but those Osculati thingies are what I had at the bow of my old lady.
The ones above, aside from the slightly different design, are much larger.
I'd guess about one foot long, as opposed to 260mm of the Osculati, and also wider.

Thanks again for both pointers, but still no virtual pint, I'm afraid.

@PF: I know OR range pretty well, but I re-checked their catalogue, just in case.
And their only rollers fairlead is exactly the same that also Osculati sells.

@Bajan: I browsed the specific websites of all those six suppliers, and all of them appears aimed at much bigger/commercial/shipping stuff.

I very much doubt it would be off some vendor. With the SA exchange rate and cheap labour and fabrication I'd bet it is local fabrication. SWS may not be mainstream but they have an excellent pedigree. I'd contact them direct as if it is a local fabrication they would be best placed to help you.

Interesting find, B.
That's different from the usual Osculati fairlead, and nicely wider (60mm vs. 45), but overall a bit too small for what I have in mind, anyhow.
It's actually shorter, in fact (200mm vs. 260).
But what is more puzzling is the price: €857 vs. €104 of the Osculati thing!?!

cannot really help sorry, but wondering are all these fairleads bronze chromed, or are they machined from SS, or cast/polished SS ? would explain differences in prices, in which case I bet the Oscullati is cast bronze :)

Yeah, I guess you are right.
Maybe I'll try to drop them an email, though I can already envisage an outrageous quotation, if they will even bother answering...
And I suspect you may equally be pleasantly surprised. It's certainly worth a punt and 5 minutes of your time.

Edit. If it helps I can get somebody local to go round and knock on the door.

@ BartW: Yep, probably.

@ vas: I can confirm that the Osculati thing is built in solid s/steel.
My guess is that they are actually built in PRC, and in numbers large enough to make them so cheap.

@ BK: Thanks for your kind offer, but It makes more sense to try to email them first.
In the meantime, I'll try to have the OK from the marina to go aboard that SWS thing (whose owners/crew are not around atm) and take some exact measures...

Take your spanner’s .

Mapis, Seastoke believes in the saying that 'Brevity is the essence of good communication'.

I think that he is suggesting that you relieve the vessel of her Osculati thing(s) by using your spanners to remove them...... :)

Aha, I see.
He might believe in communication brevity, but not so much in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (article 17), I reckon.
