Sportsboats Speeding.

I think that it is definately a Sunseeker 34 Portofino. Just have a look here

http://www.medwaybridgemarina.co.uk/boatsales/brokerage

for a picture of one to compare it.

Hang on......

Gosh what a coincidence!!!! The one for sale is just a mile upstream from where the picture was taken.....Anyone with any spare time on their hands might like to go for a little boat viewing where they may well get the oppertunity to explain to the speedster the selfishness of his ways.

This particular craft has been a bit of a nuisance a couple of times past our club at Strood (not quite at those speeds but well over 6knts)

Old git. Just for future reference Medway VTS have got a camera covering that area(and most of the river from that point down). A quick call on CH74 and they have been known to dispatch a harbour launch to have "polite words".

I would think for the safety of others and perhaps even him, in some way the message needs to get across, he may be blissfully ignorant, I wonder how many other risks he takes and bylaws he ignores, left alone the problem may come to its own sticky end

I does seem a pity when the inevitable idiot acts in a way that spoils the reputation of the many. I am fortunate to do my boating in a very empty area where inconsiderate behavior is rare and consequently all types of boaters seem to coexist amicably.
I recently had the opportunity to have a few days on a sail boat for the first time, off of the east coast and was very surprised that the chief culprit for inconsiderate tearing around in the restricted area was the pilot boat. Even more surprising was the fact that the others on the yacht were concerned when I gave the pilot some mild abuse on the radio.

It's sad too that people are so quick to judge others. Do we know his circumstances? Is he a frequent offender? Perhaps someone on board was unwell and needed to get back to the marina as fast as possible. Perhaps his house was on fire? Who knows? I consider myself a very considerate power boater, never more than 4 knots in my marina, create hardly any wash at all. If however he is a known frequent offender, lets get together and beat him to within an inch of his life!

Loony sports boat

The vessel in question has definately been less polite than he could be on more than one occasion. The weekend of the armed forces days a vessel of similar size and description came the other way round the bend at full chat sending some of my clubs sailing brethren scattering. Further questioning would be needed to establish if it was in fact the same craft.

As to the situation in question in the picture. He was heading away from the marina and I can say with confidence that his house was not on fire if it was anywhere within kent.

If i get the chance then I will do some probing and maybe get a polite hint dropped his way. Don't think it would be a broker from the marina. From any dealings I have had with them they are not the sort of people to behave in such a way.
