I think MOBO'ing is a hobby, and with the weather as it is and the cost of deisel and rubbish facilities in marinas, I think I need a sport and am thinking to changing to sail, I need
Fairly new cause I am useless at fixing stuff
Biggish engine to get best of both worlds
2 cabins with doubles and 2 bogs and holding tank, aft cabin if poss
In sail furling, I think, always short handed

I spend every weekend on the boat, so heating essential if SWMBO is to come with,
I dont know where to start any thoughts

Start by getting yourself on a yacht sailing course (Dayskipper prac, or competant crew if you know nought about the sailing bit) ... might be an idea to get SWMBO on the same course ...
As for boat - depends on your budget and where you want to be/sail to ... "good value" newish ones are BAV/BEN/JEN but if you intend to go further afield then you might want to consider a weightier beast (not that the bigger BAV/BEN/JENs can't do it though).

G'day Phil,

Re Sport or hobby; Stink boating may be a hobby as you suggest, but rag and string is not a sport; it's a disease and once contracted is incurable.

Your blood will be contaminated with sea water and you skin will turn red.
I got a bad dose over 40 years ago and am still trying the shake it.

Do be very careful about getting into sailing because it will get into you and that will be the end of normal life.

You will spend the rest of your natural life learning new skills, tricks and traps, you will also be able to fix things, because you have to; the learning never stops.
