i have just been watching someone splicing a length of rope and thought about having a go myself ,tell me does anyone know of any on line sites where i might be able to get some info?
Your local chandlers should have books on splicing which would allow you to sit on the back on the boat with a beer splicing the afternoon away!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

[/ QUOTE ]There are many resources on the web however one of the better ones (if not the best) I have found is Samson Ropes. You can download clear step by step instructions complete with pictures from the site (pdf format) for 3 strand, octoplait, braid on braid etc.

I have a pair of circlip pliers which are really great for splicing 3 strand. They have a fine round point and operate backwards so that squeezing the handles together opens the jaws. You force the sharp points in between the strands and then squeeze to open a gap to feed the strand in. circlip pliers from moter tools shop. regards olewill
