One question is parachute material the material you use to make a spinnaker.

Dunno what parachutes are made of, but the usual material for a spinny is rip-stop nylon. Cloth weight will vary according to boat spec and wind-spec for the kite.

I did a bit of paragliding ten years ago, and I remember the material as being very similar to spinnaker fabric, yes.
