Spinnaker Snuffer

Got ours from Dolphin Sails .. Nice smooth chute so it virtually falls down under its own steam .. Tried it for the first time end of season .. First time we had ever tried a cruising chute .. All went very well /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Jeckells at Wroxham made me a custom job for our spinnaker. Excellent, works like a dream and first class workmanship. However, not quite local for you. Quantum at Ipswich and indeed any sailmaker worth his salt could do the job. Don't be tempted by a cheapie. The worst broach I remember was when the plastic collar on the spinnaker snuffer on our charter boat broke up as the skipper (prematurely believing all secure) turned for home and the big sail re-deployed and pulled us flat on the water.

I recently bought one from Hyde.It had all the good points that my previous one did not have. The inner control line needs to run in a separate pocket to avoid snagging the sail. The sock material needs to be a mesh type material to let the air escape as it is hauled up & the mouth needs to be very smooth.Give Charles Devenport a ring on 01702 586715 who is their East Coast man & lives in Southend.Have a look on the website www.hydesails.com
