I cannot find the advice given by another Forumite a few months ago.

I am assembling a DIY spinnaker pole:
I have now aquired a topmast section from a Laser dinghy.
Now I can't remember where to obtain cheap and cheerful piston pole ends (I have seen some daft prices from Selden and Harken).

Hope you can help.

Cheers!

Your bio doesn't indicate boat size. However on my 21fter I use dinghy pole fittings which are like a parrot beak when they will take a rope or clip on the snotter without pulling the piston. Only need ing the piston pull to release. They are about 20 squid here. They have two side wings that rivet onto the outside or inside of the pole so pole diameter is not so critical. They have been mangled several times with a skying pole at the snotter end but are easily straightened. By comparison I find the heavier keel boat types very inconvenient to use but of course obligatory for bigger boat.
Have a look at the catogues on www.biasboating.com.au or www.witworths.com.au for stainless steel dinghy pole ends. olewill
