I have just broken the end fitting on my whisker pole and I am having huge difficulty finding a source of a replacement. Numerous online chandleries have dinghy-sized ones, but mine is to fit a 44.4mm OD tube. Any suggestions?

PM sent to Sailorman.

I've looked on eBay and could only find them on offer from the USA. Expensive shipping, difficult if something goes wrong, and buying such a simple item from halfway round the world seems so unnecessary.

critical dimension is the inside one - what is it?

Obviously that's true, but I imagine the manufacturers size the end fittings for a particular OD and wall thickness. As I haven't yet dis-assembled the end, it was only the OD that I was able to measure. By a combination of memory and guesswork I would think the wall thickness is 1.0-1.2mm: it's not a heavyweight. That would make the inside diameter about 42.0-42.4mm.

If Z spars do them 41 diam ( see earlier post) & you want 42.4 then you may be able to form a sleeve using some plastic waste pipe of 38 0r 40 diam, ( think it comes up at 40) cut it to allow it to expand a bit & bobs your uncle
But you are wasting your time guessing until you know the exact sizes
