I have a double Spinlock clutch (for ropes 8 - 12 mm, XAS I think) for handling the main and jib halyards. Recently the one for the main halyard has become stiff to operate; in desperation I put some grease (PTFE loaded, according to the maker suitable for use on plastics) on one of the bearing surfaces. This seemed to help. I'm minded to finish the job by giving the whole thing a good lubrication using said grease; but I can't find anything on Spinlock site on whether this is good idea or not (at least as far as XAS is concerned). It occurs to me that if the procedure has merit, then Spinlock would have recommended it, so there is maybe some reason why I shouldn't do it. Can anyone supply words of wisdom?
