I was given a spinaker snuffer that is like a large GRP slinky spring. I have never had much success with it, it seems to snag. Has anyone had any success with one of these devices and can anyone offer any tips.

Regards to all

Yes, had a great deal of success using it to compensate for lack of crew whilst two- handed racing. The biggest problem was if you let it come into contact with a shroud, when it would instantly become a chinese puzzle, with lots of of coils around the shroud. This apart - a good bit of kit which does not suffer from some of the shortcomings of fabric sleeved snuffers.

Thanks Trevor.
I have just dug out the kit and playing with it in the hall. It has a label that identifies it as a Spin-safe made by Aronowitsch & Lyth AB

I went onto thier site but it doesnt list the Spin-safe.

Should the halyard that is connected to the mouth and lifts the snuffer run outside or inside the coil?
