Speeding boat on the Thames

Does anyone know if the River will be closed for this event?

Is the Blue bird K3 going to move fast or just be on the water?

We are planning to go up and down the River on Saturday afternoon on one of the fleet so would be interested to know what the deal is. Will check Goooogle too ;)

When: Saturday 18 July 2015 – 16.45 to 17.15, Sunday 19 July 2015 – 11.45 to 12.15
Where: Henley Reach, Henley Royal Regatta Course
What’s happening: Thames Traditional Boat Festival – Bluebird K3
On Saturday 18 July at 16:45 Hambleden Lock will stop locking through all traffic heading upstream and Marsh Lock will stop locking through all traffic heading downstream for a period of 30 minutes. Any traffic on the reach will not be permitted to navigate anywhere on the river from Temple Island to the finish of the Henley Royal Regatta course for a half hour period.

There will be a river closure on both days when it does it's runs and it obviously won't be flat out just a modest demonstration run.

Disappointingly it didn't run on either day :(
Overheated before the start I believe.

The tannoy broadcasts were not as clear on Sunday as they had been on Friday / Saturday - a change of wind direction, but the message (I thought | heard) was that running down on tickover caused the plugs to soot up and there was something about excess fuel in the engine, so something had to be stripped down.
Of course the owner was more gutted that the watching hordes - 'cos he didn't have a chance to see his baby run...

It was disappointing not to see it but it was the busiest trad rally I've ever been to,Saturday was mobbed! There were even people lined up on the opposite bank hoping to see it run.
Hats off to the new committee for organising a bigger/better show/more stalls/a lot better food.I hope it goes from strength to strength.Having heard they had broken even by lunchtime of the 1st day they got it bang on,the weather obviously helped.

Some of our behind the scenes pictures from the weekend. Hope you enjoy them.

Unfortunately Bluebird didn't run as when we got it down to the start point the engine was flooded (with petrol) and it couldn't run. That said it was a very enjoyable event and we were made to feel very welcome by the organisers and the other exhibitors.
