Help!

I have a First 305 fitted with a Navico 200 speed log. The transducer has failed and I can't find anyone who will repair it. I don't want to have to install a new log at this stage of the season because of the expense of a lift out. Can anyone provide a working transducer, or even a full working Navico log system, or suggest a remedy. Ready cash available for a successful solution.

I had the same problem with a Navico 160 log. Try Ondin 01243 603129. They had one. I had tried all over the world without luck before getting to Ondin.

Good luck.

I can't understand how you can replace or repair a log with the boat in the water. Every one I've ever seen was flanged on the outside with a nut or other fastener on the inside. Why can't you dry the boat on piles or against a wall? You should easily replace a log transducer in one tide.

Repairing modern electronic equipment is rarely economic sense.

Earlier this month there was a posting about mixing and matching instruments and transducers with consensus that it worked. I have done this with a depth transducer (NASA / NKE mix). You can get a transducer only from NASA for their Clipper log (£22) which may work. Check the diameter is the same as the Navico for the skin fitting. I don't see a problem with fitting it with the boat in the water if you dont dawdle, my transducers in a 305 are secured internally only.

Is this a DL200 speed log?
I bought a new paddlewheel transducer last year from Bennex in Spijkenisse, the Netherlands. About euro 120,- (better get used to it).
They are closed now but i will cal them next wednesday. Monday/tuesday everyone is off because tuesday is queens birthday.

Hi Vyv,
The Naico DL200 has a paddlewheel that can be pulled out of its hull fitting and replaced by a dummy. I have done it several times at the cost of a few litres of water inboard. It needs firm and swift action.
