A Bit of a silly question really...
I just got back from a couple of weeks chugging up and down between Reading and Teddington... I usually live on the tidal waters and only come upriver about once a year or less.
Once I am into the 8kph zone I usually switch off one engine and a little more than tickover speed carries me along with the gps flickering between 7 and 7.5 kph. I dont keep to the limits because its the rules... I keep below the limit because its a holiday and I am in no rush to go anywhere fast..
I felt like the slowest boat on the river !! If I came out of a lock first, I was passed by everyone within minutes ... what on earth is the rush ?
The absolute worst culprits were the professional river users. Once a passenger boat passes you, it disappears in minutes...those buggers must must be doing at least 12 or more kph . You would think the professionals would set a good example...
Thats enough moaning
apart from some dodgy weather it was a nice holiday
