Apologies if this is old news - my attendance on the forum has been 'sporadic' recently.

Did you know that recent Government legislation changing the Freedom of Information Acts gives you access to speed camera offences registered within the last twelve months and placed on a freely accessible website? They only send a ticket if you are way over, OR (and here is the rub..) if you receive over 20 "near misses") You can now check how many you have against your car's registration. Every time your car goes even over a mile or so over the speed limit, it is registered and placed on the database

Check this page: http://www.e-database.co.uk/

It will ask you for a password - but just click on the 'need a password/' link and you'll be given one in a pop-up window. In the top right hand corner there is a "click-on" window and it even shows the picture taken by the camera

\"Coldhams Lane, Cambridge, 17th March, 37.3 mph\"

I fell for it. I actually was in Cambridge on the 14th, in the car.

And I actually did get a ticket last year on the A13, so I'm a bit sensitive!

I also checked my diary as I was around Cambridge last week. Just had SWMBO do it and she was getting very agitated and was just about to go outside to check her registration number! Paul

Me and My Big Mouth !!

I started this thread during lunch break in the office - then come home to find a letter from PC Plod saying I really have been caught on a camera - Ba$tards!!

Many people will know WInterbourne Stoke - it is the only 40mph limit (about half a mile) on the A303 between London and Exeter. I got flashed on a clear night (Saturday before last) totally dry surface, not another vehicle around, and I was apparently doing 48mph. So I can't really see any justification for spending police effort and admin time processing this on safety grounds. The middle of the day fair enough, but at 2320 with not another pedestrian or vehicle around, I just don't see it.

Anyway, I am going to claim mitigating circumstances - I had been summoned to my mother's bedside at a nursing home near Bath. She died less than 2 hours later. The camera wasn't to know that but I have got the documentation to prove it.

So I plan to argue it one way or the other - watch this space!

Really sorry to hear about your mum. Pay the b****ding ticket, I'm sure you've got other things to concentrate on.

Re: Me and My Big Mouth !!

Its not the fine, Tom, its the points - I don't want them on my license for another 3 years if I can help it.

Besides this, I am on good form. There is actually a significant feeling of relief amongst us all, and we are looking forward to a relaxing Easter on Moondance.

Thanks for your thoughts, however.
