Summer oil was $147/barrel and we got $2 to the £ - so a barrel cost £73.50

Today oil is $53.21/barrel but as you say we are only getting $1.48 to the £, so a barrel costs £35.95. Near as damit half the cost of oil in the summer, even with the correction for the weak £.

Sparkes in May (around the peak point for oil) was £0.77/litre at the low duty rate. Add in the £0.25 for the 60/40 split and that would make the peak diesel price £1.02.

As above, oil now 50% of that to buy but other costs probably remain static. With the oil price adjustment if it were all passed on to the customer it should now be in the mid 60p's. 80p plus just shows the price fall is not passed on.
