Hi there,

We've recently bought an IP32 2 berth Fishing Boat which is currently on a canal in South of England.

We've been having huge issues with the water filter system with no water coming out the exhaust and very little being pulled through the raw water filter/strainer. We think the issue may be the impeller cover is not air tight and have seen water spray out of this at times.

We think we need spare screws for a Volvo Penta 3580945 pump impeller cover however have been told Volvo no longer produce these. Is there any advice you may have on where we could get hold of these screws - as the old ones are quite battered and worn. Or indeed any other ideas of how to resolve the water filter issue.

Many thanks,

Screws will be standard off the shelf items, just need to identify the thread but probably M4 x 8mm long
But if its a Johnson pump, being American , they might be one of the small UNC sizes which will not be so easy to find in the UK

hi all - thanks for this incredibly helpful. So we have ordered the below which appears to have a new seal/gasket.

One issue we have is knowing which parts are suitable for the Volvo model number (3580945) as we can't find much that specifically lists this number as being compatible.

Here is a picturevolvo penta.jpg

There should be a paper gasket (840385) under the cover.

Individual screws may no longer be available, but I believe there's a "screw kit" (21951302) which should fit.

Any good VP dealer will be able to advise you.
