We are completing our residency applications.
Now waiting for our TIE cards, Social security cards Spanish Driving license and medical cards.
Changing the car to Spanish plates is in hand.
Last thing to do is the boat, things seem to be more difficult than expected.
Hoping someone has some information or recent experience of using a UK registered boat after the end of the transition period?

In brief, import the boat within the defined period and pay the tax, no need to re-register to Spanish flag.
There are quite a few threads on here if you search,

Just an idle request, we're no longer directly interested although once we were.
There have been many threads and messages over the years about the context - the rules and regulations, amd where to get professional assistance. AFAIK I can't recall any information posted on YBW about the actual process, from someone that actually went through with it.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it would be 'educational' if Michael or anyone else provided the lowdown details - e.g valuation, inspection, tax rate, qualifying for Spanish skipper's licence, etc etc - from personal experience of having done it.

The way the system works - worked is that if you apply within 28 days of getting your NIE (Could be TIE now) you do not have to pay the matriculation tax for importing your boat to Spain.. What I am not so sure about now, is if because it is not VAT paid in the EU if you would need to pay IVA. - VAT..

If you import your boat after the 28 days it is valued by a Spanish gov register of boats - Gestoria have them and will do the work at a very inexpensive fee... The valuation of boats/cars on this list is very low and favourable to us...

I paid a sailing notary specialising in boat in port vela in Barcelona to import Paw Paw a Westerly ocean 43 and he charged me 400 euro - 15 years ago... so I don't know the exact ins and outs - he will not give free advice or information but try informacion@bocanegra.com they are English speaking Gestoria in Marbella who are happy to do things on the internet.. They just deregistered my car for me.... ask them for a quote/info mention my name if you think it will help..

You can certainly sail the boat on a Part 1 - with no Spanish qualifications... When you import the boat you may retain your national flag - and sail under your national rules - for UK no certificate is required (Same as in France for sail boats)
