Spacer to lift compass on Goiot pedestal?

I have a Plastimo compass mounted on a Goiot pedestal. I have just replaced my Mk1 Raymarine pilot with a MkII which seems to have much stronger magnets in the motor, as now my compass is hopelessly unreliable and cannot be compensated with the inbuilt compensation screws.

However, if I lift the compass 20mm approximately so that it is further from the motor, then it works fine.

So does anybody have any suggestions as to a relatively simple and cheap way to make or buy a spacer?

A ring of Tufnol or perspex.

I would suggest that you make a hardwood one. Cut it out with a jigsaw and cut it in half before fitting.
Perspex @20mm will be expensive and Tufnol a@ 20mm may be exorbitant........particularly as the centre cut-out is surplus.
You may have to glue edge-to-edge to get the right width.

Piece of HDPE, i.e. polyethylene cutting board, or acetal/delrin
