Before Premier bought Sovereign it was possible to take a couple of months away from the harbour and not get charged for it, they either suspended the direct debit or moved your renewal date back.

Does anyone know if they still offer this and what the position is on previous owners offers/contracts in this situation?

I have asked the marina office, but they are having to get back to me - which is a worry.

They said that the berthing break was possible when I asked them about it roughly 6 weeks ago but I think that was before Premier took over (or at least before it was announced).

I was checking up on mooring fees for our old boat on a brokerage mooring recently and they said that under the old system I would pay pro rata (i.e. if I had the boat there two weeks I would pay half of the monthly rate) but they weren't sure with Premier whether I would always have to pay a full month's rate, however long I actually had the boat there. Tomorrow we go to pay off our two weeks' brokerage mooring rate so I shall find out! It sounds like they don't have a full list of instructions yet on rates and other issues and are winging it a little, but they do seem to be friendly, helpful people so I'm hoping they'll err on the side of the customer's benefit!

I would assume that now Premier own and operate Sovereign Harbour that their "normal" practice will become the norm. We're all holding our breath to see what impacts the change of ownership will have .. generally the expectation is that as Premier are a company who's business is Marinas and Yachts things will improve. I guess that only time will tell. Already the cost of fuel has fallen in line with other Premier locations, now if they can sort out some of the other issues...

Regards,
Jeff.

Hi Jeff,

Did we see you leaving the Western weekend before last?

The Marina office have got back to me, they now call it a freezing scheme and all it requires is a written confirmation of departure and return. Now I just need to see if that impacts on free nights at other Premiers, hey ho...
