I wonder what this means for the existing berthholders?

So long as they get the flamin' hoist fixed! The wheel fell of seconds after it dropped Cottontail off at her cradle last week, a lucky escape. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The rumours of this have been flying around for a good six months. Cheaper fuel would be good, I paid 59ppl Sunday. I wonder if this will slow or speed the development of the outer harbour. This was to be started later this year.

I think it's a pity Premier & MDL don't build more facilities rather than just buy up the independents. Maybe they try and just can't find the locations....

Cheaper fuel would be nice. Just filled up last weekend and UL was £1.09 a Litre /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi Rick - yes aware of that battle, and having been there a number of times you'd think it'd be welcomed with open arms. Penzance is not exactly overflowing with opportunities. A large development at Lady Bee Marina in Shoreham failed to get permission due to inadequate roads from the A27, and that's another area which needs investment, but no the locals like it grungy and fought long and hard to keep it that way.

Very interesting! I have to say it's a very well put together site/campaign, and good luck to them for trying so hard, but I'm fairly certain they will lose in the end. The main reason being that the quarry is privately owned. Any objections to the planning application can only be on 'planning' issues, and I just can't see them offering any alternative that does not mean a big increase in traffic, which is there main objection. A nature reserve would be lovely I'm sure, but not a goer commercially, at least not with less than 1000 visitors a day, which is what they are predicting for the MArina. I have driven past the site, and I have to say it's not that pretty - it's a dirty great big hole in the ground! It's true that traffic in the area is bad, but hey! Where isn't it?

judging by the way they maintain Brighton I would regard this as very bad news.

I've been a bertholder at Brighton for a number of years and I think they do a superb job.

You really ought to get out to a few other Marinas. Been in to Brighton a good number of times and it really isn't good, just the way the entrance channel is maintained is a giveaway surely. Would only stop there now as a safe haven. All IMHO of course.

Under threat of cancelling my direct debit they assured me that the hoist will be fixed on Monday and that lifting we start up again on Tuesday, so long as the repair goes to plan.

More worryingly they could not confirm that delayed returns to water will be done before they start new lift outs. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif They just said that they would be working through the backlog and phoning boat owneres as soon as they know when each boat is to be lifted.

Sorry I didn't realise you were an expert on my boating experience. I've seen plenty of marinas in this country and around the world.

The entrance at Brighton is constantly being dredged. Would you rather they just left it alone so no-one could get in?

My recent Brighton experience

They will not respond to VHF which forces you to berth on the waiting pontoon and walk walk walk to the reception where you wait wait wait.

Then have to cast off again and berth, no electric has the Electric box was severely fire damaged /melted, there were several other melted electric boxes on my pontoon.

The Pontoon was green and slippery in need of a scrub (was better once dry).

Waves pounding over the wall so boat covered with salt water spray, I saw the permanent damage to clear canopy windows.

The pontoon appears to be shared with Students dossing in flats on the pontoon ????????
All the pipes from the Student doss ? drip on your head as you walk under them- water/sewage ??????????

Pontoon tap been dripping for years, green slippery area under it, I really didnt want to drink from it.

Pedestrian exit/entrance shared with commercial vehicles, wholly inappropriate for families.

I think Premier Marinas are the best but Brighton is not up to scratch and dont make you feel welcome......

The staff there should be sent to Falmouth and Port Solent to see how it should be done.
