Southern Italy.
I am planning to winter 2008-9 my 10.3m sailing boat 1.7m draught in Southern Italy. Is there any info in forum land re suitable marinas in the Taranto area or Southern Adriatic around Otranto.
Thanks
Happy New Year

There are two marinas at Santa Maria di Leuca. Don't think Otranto's suitable it's not that sheltered. Brindisi should be OK. Gallipoli might be OK if you wintered onboard. Or cross the gulf to Sibari, where you might find some fellow Brits.

I would not like to winter a boat in Santa Maria di Leuca. I've never been in such a badly sheltered marina, any westerly wind kicks up waves which blow straight in. We moved and anchored outside to get some comfort, and that was in July.

I cannot advise about eastern Italy but have stayed in all ports along the 'toe' if that's any use.

Hi we are in Trpoea on the "toe". Sheltered but maybe a little isolated for winter liveaboard. PM for more info,
Brian
