I agree Shamrock is a good place and think it is a good berthing location. However I do get staining down the side of my boat which is a 10minute wipe off with long brush, no real problem.

Mike, when are you moving back and what sort of boat do you have, I'll look out for you, mine is a Sealine S24.

I moored at Shamrock for 5 years until the mooring fees just became more than I could bear. Most of the staff were terrific but a couple of the older harbourmasters were complete arses. The good ones got promoted and sent off to other marinas. The ones that were left just didn't want to help. On one occasion we had just returned from France and found another boat in our berth. On radioing the harbour office we were told he had a problem as there are no berths available! In all fairness though, if the rates were a little more sensible we'd go back there.

I moored for a while at Shamrock a few years ago. I dont know about water staining but when the wind was in the wrong direction, boats were covered with a layer of fine sand coming from the sand/gravel unloading dock just downstream from the marina. Anyone know whether this still happens?

I only stayed there for the weekend and the stains on the hull around the water line goes to show just how disgusting the place is.

I kept a boat at Shamrock Quay for 2 seasons.

No staining, friendly people, lovely place and brilliant for all the Solent ports aswell as being a great springboard for CI's, Brittany, Normandy and even the West Country.

Going back permanently this year.
