I have the chance to go to the boat show on the 16th, the Public Preview Day.

Anybody been before? Is it better than the standard days?

I guess it ought to be less crowded but will everything be fully up and running? Like the food places, the try a boat and will the MBM boys and girls be there?

I once went to the london boat show on preview day, and found it more crowded then the previous year when I went mid week.
As far am I am aware, can't anyone go on preview day with a normal ticket?

IMHO there's not a lot of difference, maybe a bit quieter.

I'm going that day too, but only cos is suits swmbo's working days.

I think it costs a couple of quid more on that day but as I'm not paying I don't care.

Only thing I found was that you get bounced off boats more as celebs and camera crews push past.
Well, I got bounced off, might be more relevant ;)

Thanks for the replies

Had a look on the website and you are right, the tickets cost £5 more on that day. That should keep the riff-raff out :)

What with that and the celebs I guess I will go on that day. Getting a free brunch also.

We have comp tickets for that day too. Was hoping it would be a quieter.

Depends what you mean by quieter, yes it should be quieter but it will have a very different vibe, a buzz in fact (well it should do!)

Its a good day to go, as is Tues, Weds and Thurs for a good look around, Monday is ok as long as its not been a bonkers weekend! But that's when the serious b2b stuff starts.

Monaco clashes this year so whilst not a competitor show you may find a number of key personnel heading over there to attend this event and I dont just mean the real big boys (of which there are not any at sbs anyhow) I mean the nuts and bolts, props and door knobs...

No quieter in my experience, and never feels any different to "public days". Get slightly different but even ruder riff raff who are happy to pay that bit more, and lots with comp tickets.

Did get a great lunch out of the BMF a 3 years ago, when it was hosing down outside. Result!!!!

Hello all,

The Public Preview day does always get the smallest gate of the week, and is a great day with a real party atmosphere and a lot of new model launches. Plus the official Show opening which last year featured a Spitfire doing aerobatics.
In all other respects it is a normal Show day and all of the attractions will be open.

Thanks for the clarification. Looking forward to it :)
