The 2011 event was very well supported, John & I were really unsure how many would attend or what people’s expectations would be. We were however massively inspired by the enthusiasm on the day and thus for 2012 we’re being more ambitious and investing a little more to improve some aspects.

The extended weekend of 2nd to 5th June includes two bank holidays because of the delayed May holiday and the Queen’s Jubilee. An ideal opportunity for a few days celebrating all that is British – especially our Fletchers!

We’ve decided on the Sunday for the main event, but we hope many will stay and enjoy a long weekend with extra meets on the Monday and Tuesday. We’ve added a detailed itinerary for the Sunday at the end of this email. We’ll need to keep on top of the schedule so please arrive on time, the earlier the better.

For 2012 we’ve secured private use of the MDL Events pontoon at Brixham for 24 hours from 9am on the 3rd. Be prepared for double berthing, please have some extra fenders on hand. Overnight berthing is available on the events pontoon at no charge but we must vacate by 9am on the 4th. Separate and more secure marina berths are available through MDL (SWFBR members receive 10% discount), please book direct with MDL if required. The pontoon means that everyone can embark and disembark without need of the 'tender taxi'. We’ve negotiated some sponsorship towards the pontoon from Garmin and IRCM insurance and have invited both to attend the event if they wish.

We’re asking for a small £10 registration fee per boat (on the day) which includes 10 raffle tickets, cost towards the pontoon, some ancillary costs and the surplus being donated the RNLI. Additional raffle tickets will be available for purchase on the day. This event is about the Fletcher owner community/club and is not a commercial venture and is thus run as informally as possible, but we do need to know numbers!

The talk on engine care and maintenance by Antony Birchell was very well received and we’re repeating this for the 2012 event. In addition Adam Fowler is running a talk about gel coat/glass fibre repair/maintenance. We’ve negotiated access to the quayside adjoining the visitor pontoon so boat maintenance talks will be adjacent. Close proximity of facilities, and the town of Brixham, should make for a truly great day and offer something for all.

We’re running the BBQ at ‘cost price’ of £5 per adult and £3 per child (child is under twelve), menu on website shortly. We’re holding the BBQ on the beach at Elberry Cove - please note that boats will require anchoring just off the beach with limited tendering facility so be prepared!

Please complete the 2012 registration form on the web as this greatly helps us to keep track of numbers and make necessary arrangements with Harbour Masters etc. www.swfbr.org.uk/registration.html

Sunday Schedule: (We’ll be there from 08:00 so feel free to come earlier.)
09:00 – 10:00: Meet & Greet. Chat and compare boats etc etc..
10:00 – 11:00: Boat Engine Maintenance talk by Antony from Birchell Marine.
11:00 – 12:00: Gel Coat/Glass Fibre Repair & Maintenance talk by Adam from Fowler Marine.
12:30 – 13:30: Break for lunch. Bring a sandwich or grab something quick from a cafe.
13:30 – 15:00: Group trip around the Bay with lots of stops. Should be gentle 12 miles – but I’m sure some will want to play more than others. Ending at Elberry Cove.
15:00 – 16:00: Free format playtime for extra boat trips, chilling out on the water or chatting on the beach. Possible Ski demo but not yet confirmed.
17:00 – 18:00: Beach BBQ at Elberry with Chef doing the cooking, just bring liquid refreshments etc!
18:00 – 19:00: Fletcher Best Boat Prize & SWFBR Raffle prizes.
19:00 – 21:00: Optional evening cruise around the bay or just return to pontoon or slip for recovery.

Monday is optional but we had some great fun last year going up the Dart. Depending on weather, we’ll have a few trip options available and go with what the weather dictates. Meet at the Pontoon no later than 09:00 and we’ll go from there.
