South of France Weather early November?

Forget south of France for winter, you only need to move a short distance, to the beginning of Spain.
The weather system changes drematically once you are the other side of the Pyrenees mountains.

Normally end of October is ok. You have a decent chance of sunshine. The sea is getting marginal temperature-wise to swim in, but is probably ok (perhaps 21degrees). The crowds have nicely gone by then!

I can speak for Mallorca .... October half term ( last week in October - so pretty much similar dates) is a gamble. We have won twice and lost once. Last October it was 30 degrees, the sea was still warm and the wind - well there was none for a week. It was far better than August.

Year before, saw there was a heat wave and went down for 5 days. Lovely.

Year before, wet and cold.

Based on my unscientific analysis you have a 66% chance of decent weather!

We often go to our apartment near Roses in the Costa Brava in October and weather has always been surprisingly good. Cannot speak for SoF though it is close geographically.
However whatever it is like it will be several degrees warmer than Blighty.
Good luck.

Swmbo took the kids to ibiza for the October half term last year. Great weather and fine for swimming.

Last week of the season and the holiday industry was shutting up shop in a big way.

We're just over the border from you in Arles-sur-Tech, up the Vallespir valley. The nearest neighbour says winter is only 2 months long ... the swimming pool guy says it always snows and gets really cold ... only moved in at the beginning of June so it will be interesting to see who's right!

We are new to this Med malarkey, but when we went on our fact finding mission to Spain in May I was getting concerned that we seemed to be flying over a constant covering of cloud from the time we left Gatwick, but as soon as we cleared the Pyrenees the skies cleared completely. I have a feeling that we may be travelling to Spain around the end of October as well so I hope you are right

what's the best source of weather info,

I always use windfinder pro
and then the forecast for the most nearby place with a airport,
windfinder usually / very often has weather info from that source

a few years ago we had 18°C and clear blue sky in SOF on newyearsday,
but you could also have a nasty cold wind and rain,

october is never 100% predictable, but you can have some very nice day's, good enough for a occasional short swim

Last year we went down for the same week in Beaulieu. Our arrival was timed with a big storm that caused a lot of damage and killed some people, our flight was diverted to Milan and we got transferred by coach. Arrived on our boat at 2am in awful weather. The next day was 180 put and lovely as was the rest of the week. I didn't swim, but was happy in shorts at t shirt during the day. Night was more rugged up and below deck with the heating on. In all we loved it and are heading down for the same week again this year.

I use this website and happily recommend it - http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weat...REGION=0003&WMO=07695&LEVEL=52&R=0&NOREGION=1

4th Nov last year - I was between boats at the time -a month later we had another .
