Now enjoying sunny breakfast on deck at South Dock.
However was hoping to be passing Southend by now, but have missed the early tide as they no longer operate the lock 24hours here.
It still says 24hour on the web site though.
Excellent Chinese enjoyed up near Surrey Quays shopping centre.
Will now try to exit at midday and punch the tide for couple hours and see how far we get.

see how far we get
.......and ?

Tied up in brightlingsea and the fray bentos are in the oven.
Great trip apart from coming into Blackwater and then Colne where we took a bit if spray over the top.

Day of rest tomorrow and round to Tollesbury day after.

If you're at Brightlingsea and like Indian food there's a superb southern indian restaurant on the front which does superb fish curries called the Kovalam. Many threads and discussions over past few years on the East Coast forum.

my in laws have a place in that fancy new development everyone hates...

Still very, very good curry house, even though they charged us for someone else's table last time (there were 4 of us and 12 on the other table!).

Think I would have preferred the development if they had made more moorings and kept the flats a little lower but something was needed.

Planning on a takeaway or meal in the Indian tonight, will keep an eye out for what everyone else is eating!!!

I was hoping to upload some photos, but flickr wont let you link directly to the image file itself.
Any suggestions of alternative sites?

Did South Dock let you in on a "just turned up" basis or did you book? Wanting to go to town for the BH weekend but looks like Limehouse are full and I jib at the £40 or so a night it looks like St Kats charge these days.

i did book, about an hour before i got there!!

Found a very good chinese down by the surrey quays shopping and along the high street on the right,. (Called Royal Margin)

Lets see if this works....this is the place that Richard is talking about...

They make first class autopilots. Mine, aged 11 at the time, took the wheel from Teddington to QE Bridge a few years back on a night passage. I took over at QE when it was lighter, his night vision is better than mine.

Just clearing up excellent takeaway from the Kovalam, let's hope for improvement on the weather tomorrow!
