Hi

Newbie here, so please forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place.

I'm about to depart for my second week's charter in Croatia ( a 43ft monohull ) . Last year we sailed from Kremik, this year from Dubrovnik.

I've a rough route in mind but would be grateful for any advice. Route so far comprises: Sipan (sudurad) late afternoon departure, Mijet (Pomena), Lastova (Pasador), Korcula (TBA), Mijet (TBA) then back to base. Quite a distance I know and i would be interested whether it is too far over 6 days.

From last year's trip we really liked the smaller bays for lunches, proper mooring for the night.

Last year we went in August, so had light winds, beautiful days. Not sure what to expect this year.

many thanks

Firstly I don't think your planned route is too far. About right I'd say. I've done several cruises up and down the Adriatic. This year we are doing 2 weeks from Split during which I aim to get down to Dubrovnik and back.

Obviously get the 777 Anchorages and look through it, but for better advice use the Imray Thompson Pilot guide. They are very sparing on praise but when it is given you know that the place will be nice, 6th Edition just published.

Anyway as for stops :
To the SW of Pomena is an empty cove called Lokva, that would be worth an overnight stop.As for Korcula town the best places to stay are Banja and Vrbovica to the west or Marina Lombarda to SE (all have regular buses to Korcula town.) Other places on Korcula worth trying are:- Brna and small cove to NW, Tri Luke, Poplat, Gradina (also called Gubesca) and Racisce (which can also be used as a base to visit Korcula town via bus). Other places on Mljet on your return worth trying are Polace (very nice), Kozarica or Prozura.
If you return before 14th July let me know how you got on and what you thought of the places you stopped.

Cheers

Paul

Will include those suggestions in the route. I've a 2009 777, but i see there's a new out this year. I'll have look at the Imray tomorrow.

You obviously know your way around the area. If I could make one suggestion. Tatinja bay on the south side of Solta 43'22'16.63 16'17'19.79. We stayed completely on our own last August. A blessed relief from Hvar the previous day.

We will indeed be back before the 14th. Will let you know how we get on

regards

We anchored in the sheltered bay on the north side of Prolaz Most (the small bridge at the western end of Lastovo) and dinghied over to the old submarine pen at Jurjeva Luka. We took the dinghy past the mobo tied up outside and motored to the end of the pen - dark and spooky. The boys enjoy a bit of wartime history (and any excuse to drive the tender around!)
