Pal of mine wants to go walking by the sea next weekend with his two dogs not too far from M27/M3. Usually does 3 miles or so and would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Nick

Nick - suggest the Solent Way.Park in carpark in front of Rising Sun in Warsash and walk downsteam of Hamble past slip way and follow path - goes all along the Solent up to the Meon River, Hill Head etc. Good views of Solent.

If your friend drives to the Jolly Sailor at Ashlett Creek, then apparently there are some nice walks around there, despite the presence of Fawley Oil Refinery and Calshot Power Station. If walking no good, then at least the pub does good grub.

Park in Lymington, catch ferry to yarmouth, walkt to freshwater and up onto Tennyson Down.

P'raps not quite what he's looking for, but there's a nice walk along the river from Beaulieu to Buckler's Hard - not all of it along the shore - and he can have a pint at the Master Builder when he gets there /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

One of my favourite walks is to park at Boscombe or Southbourne and then walk along to Hengistbury Head or Mudeford beach, depending on how energetic I'm feeling. Dogs not allowed on the beach in summer but I think you're OK at the moment. However, I'm not sure that qualifies as near M3/M27, cos it must be at least 15 miles beyond the end of the M27.......

I quite enjoy the walk from Tommy to the Ebony Room. Strange how it always seems to be going downhill on the walk back.
