Hi there,

I've finally discovered the make of my furling drum, (see above)

Unfortunatly they've gone out of business.

Anyone know where I can get a compatable foil?

Or does anyone have the same system?

I'm not keen on buying a new set of gear when I have a nice stainless drum

Cheers
Jim

Suggest you measure the section as best you can and hawk it around the various vendors - if you do it at the Boat Show they will all be there.
If you do not get an exact match, go for the nearest and then have a local engineering co. make up an adaptor piece. Only a suggestion, bit difficult to give definitive advise without having the bits to hand.

I'd rather be sailing... :)

Hi,

I have a SCRR genoa furler for sale, since I replaced both foresails and then wanted new furlers as well.
I do have an original manual for the furler, but my problem is how to get the furler apart, to be able to
move it from ehere it is now, alongside the boat.
It doesn't feel god just to cut it and see what happens.
Anyone has any idea how to take it apart?

Thanks, Rolf

Did anyone get anywhere with this? I'm looking at a yacht and the biggest problem found for me during the survey is the foil has corroded to the point it may crumble and the foresail pull out, seems to be a nice piece of kit and a shame to replace over this plus highly expensive! I can't get near the boat to look myself, being made in the 70s is it something that could be made if you had access to a machine shop or is it a one off extrusion? Cheers

My late father had one of these from about 1980. They were a true reefing as opposed to furling gear. IF I recall correctly the foil is mechanically connected/pinned to the rod forestay inside, so detaching the two to shorten or ship may be problematical.

Ah so there's isn't a wire forestay that runs through this system but a solid rod ? I guess the chances of finding a foil for such a system is slim and I wouldn't want to fabricate anything that would become part of the load barring rigging!
