After 25 yrs in the Med I'm seriously thinking of keeping AB somewhere easier/cheaper to drive to.
I know there's a lot of cats in West France, where do their skippers park them without bankruptcy?

When we bought our cat 8 years ago we had a choice of one based in a marina near Cannes or one based in a marina near Split, Croatia

When I asked about mooring fees I was informed that the French marina was £20,000 per annum.

We bought the one in Split where fees were about a quarter of that.

How is quoting prices on the French Mediterranean coast even remotely relevant to the OP who asked about Southern Brittany?

It's like quoting Solent prices to someone who asks about moorings in Scotland.

It's all France.

You obviously didn't watch the leaders debate last night. England and Scotland are clearly different countries!

May be one country, but different worlds as far as mooring prices are concerned. Useless information about med prices compared with Britanny. The comparison between Solent and Scotland is valid in this context - but even more so Med vs Britanny.

In an attempt to provide a relevant answer, here goes...
There are plenty of marinas/moorings in Brittany. Prices tend to be (a lot) cheaper than in the UK.
However, marina berths are about as rare as hens teeth. Most places operate waiting lists (and whatever you do, do NOT forget to re-apply every year to maintain you place on the list. Usually in October). Moorings are somewhat easier to come by, but a lot depends on the size of your boat.
There are more vacancies in winter. You could always try to get a winter berth and hope something comes up in summer.

Personal experience: we bought a property in Brittany in 2011 and got ourselves on the waiting list of 4 local marinas the same week.
When we renewed our application for a berth last October we were informed that we would probably not get a mooring this year (2015) but that we were 3rd on the list and that they were putting down 5 moorings appropriate for boats our size next winter. So, we should have a permanent berth/mooring in Brittany 5 years after going on the waiting list.

Price: we currently have a pontoon berth in winter and are on a swinging mooring in summer - UK East Coast. For this we pay about £3.2K p/a (44' monohull). For the same arrangement in Brittany we will be paying €950 p/a.

If you can get hold of the March edition of "Voile" magazine, they review 90 ports between Dunkirk and Hendaye.

I'm at Arzal Camoel on the Villaine, paying ~£1k for a 36' mono on an unserviced, island finger pontoon. Fee includes lift in and out and a month on the hard in the summer, which suits me for maintenance
You will get a berth there but you may need to be flexible; some contracts mean your boat is moved around between moorings and pontoons, or shuffled between different berths. There is also a lot of dry storage in the area where you get 5 or so lifts a year as part of the package.
