After a long session in the pub, i accidentally agreed to have some south african crew on board, whose spectacular fee is *nothing*. It seemed a bit harsh to try and beat them down, especially seeing as they aren't the average south africans with sharp antlers or ferocious claws or big teeth etc but actual real humans.

I had intended to invite comments about crew, or south africans, or free crew, or the state of blairs britain for some reason, or even the minmum wage issue being not actaully breached since there's no wage at all. However, the truth would somehow get out that i got myself onto a highish point on the boat, whereupon the ladder gave way, a south african student-type chappie rescued me, and these are his mates...

Re: ah but

well, i was leaving the end of the next day, so if i'd sed maybe in stead of yes, then thid have had to get their stuff and miss out on my all-important Stinkiemaster Practical Preparation : inshore teak cleaning, hoovering in fog, and blind electrical panel navigation in the dark and in the wrong language.

One of them convincingly twisted a rope around his arm backwards and around to reveal a knot that was a bit bowlinish, but not quite - but they totally redeemed themselves with the cushion-arranging and taking their shoes off, so i think we can agree that they are the Right Stuff.

Re: Willing but foreign

Great blokes for lifting, pulling and general donkey work. Many can fix anything. That includes getting you a carbine. Good guys up the pub too. There is one slight problem. Most of them don't speak a word of english. They appear to, but, once you get into it they might use some of the words but they don't have the same meanings or pronunciations. They do know how to treat "blex" though. Whatever that is.
