I need to make up a couple of short 5mm wire rope strops to hold down my bowsprit better.
Just a couple of 2 metre lengths of 1x19 stainless wire with a Talurite thimble end and a couple of swagelss fork terminals for me to fit.
Any ideas where I can best source these to get a good job done and not pay through the nose?

Guggle S3i; I buy bits from them and am very happy with prices and delivery (even here in France) Think they will do the swaging as well, but not used that.

A local rigger would do those things easily, or if you want mail order then Jimmy Green marine will do. You can get an on line quote from their website which will give you a ball park price, then get a quote from a rigger to compare.

Thanks for the S3i - it looks ok. Just a question. They seem only to do 7x19 stainless wire talurite hard eye. Is there any difference using swageless fork terminals with 7x19 rather than 1x19. I would use the easier (and cheaper ) type of swageless fittings where the jamming sleeve fits over the wire rather then splaying the wire out over a cone.

Thanks for the JG reminder I will try that. It will have to be mail order as not many local riggers here in East Cheshire!

There is a chap on the forum that does this (E Coast I think) but I have lost his details.

I have just run through the quotation online and the S3i comes out at half the Jimmy Green cost however the S3i talurite type swages are only shown as 176kg SWL which is probably too low for my application?

Thanks paul, this is the guy. He sourced me an unusual sized wire for my steering cables and made them up very quick and well at a good price. I wil contact him.
