Sources of accurate reference time on board ?

When you have one clock everything is simple.
When you have two clocks. You have to figure out which one is right.

Hence a time signal, a record. You can take your time signal from GPS. and or Radio.
I have failed to get WWV from Glasgow. It hasn't gotten dark here this last couple of weeks which doesn't help. I did get the BBC.

I always found it helped pass the time and rather enjoyed it. Along with the weather observation.

Even though not required I usually recommend. Anyone trying to learn to understand the weather. Just watch the sky and keep a record of it will soon start to make sense. If anything in my old age I am getting less observant through lack of practice.

It would be a comforting feeling to have a really accurate source of time onboard without buying a certified and expensive chronometer.

I do it West Highland style ... with a calendar.
