I am going to sack the person that worked out how much sound deadening we needed to line Sirenia's engine bay.
Finally got it complete this morning.
It has worked well.
We should be able to have a normal conversation across the cockpit instead of a shouted one.:)

I now have 2 1000x600 full sheets of sound block insulation.
Anyone interested - make me an offer

I will now consider me self sacked :o.

Meet up with Lazy Kipper this afternoon on my way back to the dinghy ramp.
Had a nice chat and a cup of coffee.
What a nice boat for a growing family.
Good to meet you all - thanks for the coffee.
See you at Pirate Weekend I hope.

How flexible is the stuff? We've been wondering about lining the cover over the outboard well to reduce engine noise in the cockpit the top of which is curved

Not very. It is multi-layered and the layers are of different material so I think it would de-laminate and you'd have to fix it with penny washers and screws rather than glue.

I could let you have a bit to play with if you like.

Sounds like it might not work too well then, worth a try though :)

Might scrap the big blue GRP box cover anyway if we can't sort out a viable means of lifting the engine out of the water (which the cover isn't actually high enough to cater for anyway, it would have to be raised by at least four inches) and replace it with a sturdy flat topped cover which is strong enough to stand on as it would make boarding and disembarking via the stern ladder a lot easier

If I do that and make up a new flat topped well cover it avoids the problems of bending the sound insulation around the curve too :D

Are you still on the hard in the marina? /QUOTE]

Yep, sort of .. she's in the yard down at the Yacht Station rather than up at the marina. In through the gates at the far end (nearest the river), down the right hand side and she's about half way down on the left

All being well we go back in the water on the 18th June and get some bloody sailing in!

If so will drop some off when next passing (maybe Wed or Thurs).

Much appreciated

Do you have a photo of this Lurker so I can recognise him :D
I understand that he is a "Funguy"
This might be him
