Sorry to be serious, but I need some help. Four weeks ago my boat almost sank and I am now having real problems getting any action out of my Insurance Company in respect of my areas of concern i.e. bulkheads comming lose and sub-floors lifting due to water. The engine was supposed to have been removed for examination/cleaning almost four weeks ago but as of Thursday no action yet carried out.

The boat is in Spain, the Insurance Co. surveyor is German and based in Seville; almost as far away as I am.

Any thoughts on how to put some umph into the Insurance Co.?

Many thanks

Phil

So - is it the insurance company, the surveyor or the yard? The surveyor might be slow getting the report in, the yard might have the instruction but may be dragging their heels - why did you say it should have been out by now - who issued that instruction?

I think if I were you I would employ a surveyor directly to give an independent review. You may need to pay for that yourself, but given the problems you are having with the insurance co's guy - would you really trust him to be acting in your best interest (rather than that of the insurance co)?
