Hi, I recently posted about a plotter versus heating, and thanks to advice from you guys decided to go for heating.

I now have one final question that you may be able to help with. I have shore power available when in the marina, and can easily continue to use the existing leccy heater. I dont spend time sitting about on moorings etc when its cold, so an engine driven system could be viable for when the boat is in use. Has anyone else had experience of such systems- basically the same as car heating using coolant/heat exchanger.

Volvo do a S/Steel affair with a 5kw output- its expensive, but still 1/3 the cost of diesel heating. Any ideas very welcome.

On my Norman river cruiser I actually had a couple of radiators plumbed in to the same circuit as the calorifier which came off the engine cooling circuit !

Why not get an old mini heater unit, (the one that use to go in the middle under the dash) fix up two diverter valves so you can isolate and off you go.

can't cost more than £50.00 including new valves and a bit of hose.
