Somebody lend me £375k, please.

I am not sure that she looks THAT lovely.

The deck house tends to spoil her

Bah, tis not important. Just look at that rig!

It'd be a singlehanded sailors torment, thus forcing me in to getting some friends.

I remember seeing Jean de la Lune when I was a kid on a school trip to Canna. The name stuck with me although in my head she was better looking than that (probably the same for lots of things I was in love with at that age).

The boat crops up in the excellent 'Hitchhiking Around Caledonia' by Nick Thorpe. Well worth a read.

I suspect a buyer might pay a good deal less than the asking price for JDL. The owner and restorer John Reid retired several years ago and she has been lying at Leith laid up afloat for about 5 years. She may not be in all that great condition I fear. A shame when so much work went into her over the previous couple of decades.

Think I saw her go thru the Caledonian canal once and my question would be -how do you see out of wheel house.
As for the price a most beautifully converted Danish fishing boat used for "Wale watching" charter was asking in excess of £100,000 and sold for about £60,000.
There is another one up for grabs Clare de la lune or similar not too much over £100,000.
This seems a silly price!
If you are really looking for boats then go on Yacht.com making sure you get on the US site.
In the BVI there was a lovely 1970s ish 55 footer with proper stateroom aft cabin for about £35000.Similarly a beautiful 1960s hardwood motor sailer moored up in Honolulu going for about the same price.
Another lovely boat again 50 foot ish in Baja California/just over border in Mexicoagain under £40,000
A Lee Choi(think thats right)in a yard in New England who someone had bought new 25 years ago and just left it there-recall that was about £20,000-needed all the beautiful varnish work redoing and the overlaid teak veneer deck replacing.
The list is endless.

Am I slow or what-it is Jean de la Lune!!-I knew the wheel house had come to mind before!!!!
But the price does not sound right-I am sure it was up for grabs for £140/150k

Remember now-she had a dry exhaust with exhaust stack behind the wheel house-alot of blue smoke.
Cannot believe it was 5 years since I last saw here but then again I have had my boat for 6.
Wouldnt woory about the rust marks.
Just saw clip of Queen Mary 2 showing some rather rusty bits of hardware near the bow!-not enough Dulux Brilliant white!
