I'm going to foxtrot oscar. Can't stand insults. Can't stop myself fighting injustice and a-holes. But it takes its toll.
wtf did I write to be insulted and called an idiot dreamer?

Just stick all the bad tempered solent know-it-alls on ignore, just a few makes a big difference the grumpy background noise

Least the dreamers tend to be cheerful :)

Aye, as many of the quotes below from Einstein corroborate what you write. I have plenty on ignore. There are a few Dick heads around, but they have been on ignore for ages. lw395 is a clever chap and has rarely been insulting before, but hey ho, there are plenty of nice people on this forum.

PBO becomes more like the lounge month by month.

I need to simply keep adding the Dick heads to ignore until I am left with the normal decent people that don't use their keyboard as a cowardly weapon.

Someone once said surround oneself with nice people and keep away from toxic people and life will be a whole lot better. Trouble is I have been a fighter all my life; hated bullies and kicked their ar_ _ _ for it even though doing so has caused me a lot of trouble but the satisfaction of doing the right thing helps balance it out. Standing up for those in need of help feels good too.

"Evil flourishes when good people do nothing" and I like good people and have always tried to be one too (failing a lot of the time). Finding other good people to surround oneself with can be difficult as they seem to be a minority these days.

Maybe when (and if) I hit 50 I will find the balance.

Sailingsaves.
I think you have possibly over reacted to one post about using your bilge pump as a bowthruster.. Most bow thrusters are in the KW range, so the output of a bilge pump is unlikely to help much in a cross wind.

Your stated life of kicking back at bullys etc, might just have caused such a reaction. You might disagree.

Edit: No real need to FO for one post. We need as many opinions as possible here.

Hallelujah, Amen to that lol I have been bashed several times and trolled through to other forums just to be negative , hee hee don't see the point I find it funny that people think its there personnel bashing post poo to them

love this did not know you could do it , and amen to bully boys who hid behind their computers all day
sort your life out and be civil and positive to people we can all taker constructive criticism but not rudeness and bullshit

IF you want to believe youtube instead of common sense engineering, that's your problem.
You can buy a bow thrster, it will be designed for the job and it will use a kW for a small one, more for a big one.
If you want to believe you can do the job with 200w of something desinged to do a completely different job, that's up to you, but ask yourself why the makers of bow thrusters aren't copying these designs.
There is some great content on youtube, everything from music to 'how to fit a towbar to my car'. But there's also a lot of complete bollocks, like

I said my 3700 gph pump was so good it could ALMOST be used as a bow thruster on a stick...

I was pointing out how good the 3700 is.

When I bought the £200 -odd pump for £40 I was so impressed I did look into other uses (using my imagination you see as Einstein points out is a good attribute), but found that the pumps need propellers instead of impellers as youtube points out and did not pursue the idea, but fitted the pump in my bilge.

Personally, I think lw395 (an electronics genius) reacted as he did because I (not an electronic genius) mentioned that I had made a water detecting and operating switch for a few quid instead of the £40 Water Witch (maybe he makes and sells them?)

Calling people silly (or that the forum is being taken over by silly people or whatever he wrote about me) is not on. I know he wouldn't say it to my face so he should not write it here. I think it is even in the rules somewhere.

He needs to:
a) read the post accurately
b) not be rude and insulting.

Jumping on the band wagon eh? Rather than doing the decent thing and realising you read the post incorrectly and apologizing. What a man.

As I just pointed out I never said the 3700 gph pump could be used as a bow thruster. I said it was so good, it could almost be used as one.

The you tube videos simply show that SMALL (500 gph) bilge pumps can be adapted to be used as thrusters for small model ROVs. They DO NOT show them as bow thrusters. So what is your point of a youtube video of someone cementing their head in a microwave.

I would like to say more, but I must practise what I preach (and bottle up my anger and insults).

PS:
Not only can you not read a post properly, it APPEARS you cannot read a catalogue either.

Any replies to me will not get through from now on; I must converse with nice people only.

Ancient Chinese proverb ..... "He who puts Dick on ignore, puts knowledge on ignore" :encouragement:

Richard

Ancient Glaswegian proverb he who ignores DICK is a knowledge man and will go far, not listening to Dick.
what the F.. did the Chinese give to the world anyway !!!!
to be honest I have in all my travels which is extensive ,have never met a person called Dick but I know you are lurking out there
As to the OPs opinion there is lots of things that work because physics demand it or chemistry will force it , but what I have learned in sailing is that there are a large number of processes that can be done differently , and instead of chastising new ideas lets embrace them and challenge them in a constructive manner , therefore together the solution can be found
Yes I know very American of me, but he I married one , my fault

You’ve publicly announced that you’re leaving AND that you’ve put LW395 on ignore.

Um.

?

(ps. leaving is never the right thing to do, announcing it is always a bit silly, announcing and continuing to post is sillier still)

Not really, wealth of knowledge on here, loads from cheery chaps as well as a few Victor Mildrews who will bang on about how they wire up some boxes on white plastic boats in the solent is the *only* way in the world and anyone else is an idiot for suggesting otherwise.

No great loss other than not having to go through a load of bad temper and snide remarks.

It seems to be a strange strategy to complain about insults on the forum by insulting the insulters.

Better to aim for a better standard of discourse oneself. LW395 once suggested I take up golf. This proved fantastic advice and I now play off a handicap of 5. :encouragement:
