Looks like a russian Kilo class diesel electric sub - I think some were exported to Asia from Russia, but I could be wrong.

Thanks, looks like you're spot on, from wikipedia. My shot taken May 05 whilst crossing to Cherbourg, so she was heading west up channel. Also looks like the same ship (Teal) transporting it, now in Dockwise colours. I see that India has 10 of these subs, and Indonesia 2:
