Hello everyone,
I'm trying to get some info on exactly what i need and where to get such things.
I bought a Crane Inflatable Sports Boat last year from aldi (https://www.aldi.co.uk/crane-inflatable-sports-boat/p/094855159155901)
I took it out in Tewksbury last year and the local rowing club was kind enough to let me know i needed a licence/permit but said stay out of the way and i should be fine to just float around. Well anyway this year i'd like to row up and down the River Avon (Evesham) while being all legal for once.

I've spoken to someone which has told me for an unpowered dinghy the licence is £55 for the year and £70ish if i used a cheap electric outboard. But i would need 3rd party insurance... I can't seem to find insurance for the "toy" i have. It's not a RIB, Dinghy, Kayak etc... so a few insurance quotes i've tried just get rejected.

Where can i get insurance for this type of boat? I've contacted BCU and they told me they can't cover me which is a shame.
I'm looking at the licence form online and i'm asked for the boats name? Do i just paint something on the side and use that?

I'm completely new to this and trying to get a clear answer to just float down the river is becoming a real pain in the ass.

Thank you in advance
James

Not sure I can be of help but it looks to me it could be classified as a sib. Does your household insurance cover 3rd party liability? Have you tried speaking to several different brokers? There are online companies who do 3rd party boat insurance.
Good luck!

Pop into Tewkesbury Marina Office. They are very helpful there.
