I was watching the Vendee Globe boats pass through the Azores a few days ago and saw that they all had "SOLO SAILOR" after their boat names on AIS - eg "MACIF SOLO SAILOR".

I can understand why they would do this, but what is the legality of this?

You can call your boat anything you want so solo sailor is ok. As would be dozing in my bunk

Some of them may have been better to follow with" restricted in ability to manouver due to shallow draft"!
