Hi all.
As a newbie I haven't yet,but surely will, come across a situation where I have to navigate an unmanned lock solo. Any tips and info will be gratefully received. It will be interesting to see which ones coincide with my theories!

Locks

Hi all.
As a newbie I haven't yet,but surely will, come across a situation where I have to navigate an unmanned lock solo. Any tips and info will be gratefully received. It will be interesting to see which ones coincide with my theories!

Yes....take your time.....don't panic!

We had to do the same a couple of weeks ago in torrential rain! What a mess! We just could NOT get the sluices to work and having rung the out of hours number posted on the instructions, it seems that the last person to go through had not closed the gates properly (this co-incided with my previous post about the stolen boat)....in the end, worked fine.

Take your time.....if someone else then turns up just tell 'em your a lock virgin and need their help :D

Going either up or down tie up on the side where the power controls are.

Once you are in the lock then don't look back to see if any other boat is steaming up to join you. Pretend not to notice; close the gates and commence sluicing
