Solimar UK helm - parts supplier

Hi All,

I have play in my Solimar 607 Helm and will be taking it apart in the next few weeks to establish which parts are worn. I have tried emailing Solimar to find a UK distributor for parts but have had no reply :-( I have the schematic so will know the part numbers when I work out which are the culprit but really nee to know where I an order them from.

Any suggestions will be very welcome .

Its a rack and pinion, if the play is in the steering head its either the pinion or the rack loose on the shaft. Check for play in the bearings by lifting the wheel up and down and forward and back The pinion is a bevel gear and any slack in that can be taken up by spacing it forward to increase engagement, but if the bearings are worn replace them first.

Did replacement of bottom bearing. Needed to cut and reweld the lever arm.

Another possible fault is the rack loose on the shaft, like in this video (of my Dehler 34):

If anybody has suggestions how to mend this, or if you have the same problem and find a way to fix it, I'm all ears.
Solimar used to offer an "upgrade kit" years ago that included a whole new splined shaft, rack and pinion set, but I don't think this is available any more.
