A friend needs to replace the solid fuel stove on his lovely old wooden ketch as the current stove has finally succumbed to Anno Dominii. He has identified the maker, but the stove went out of production 50 years ago.....

I recall reading somwhere (YM? PBO? Scuttlebutt?) about someone still making bespoke stoves and although my memory might be playing tricks, I think it might have been in the Plymouth area. I think this particular craftsman had a personal trademark that he used to incorporate - a mouse or a cat or something. Can anyone help identify and provide contact details for the individual or company please? A search using the key words "solid fuel stoves" failed to find anything. I live in hope on behalf of a very cold friend! Many thanks.

The guy in Faversham is Colin Frake - you should find him via the OGA website.

The stoves "with the fish on" are here

A guy I knew in Glastonbury (where else!) had a good business creating stoves from old water fire extinguishers for hippy camper vans - not a difficult thing to do and quite effective - not sure he's still making them, but wouldn't be a particularly difficult diy job...

Just a note that those stoves http://www.marinestove.com/codinfo.htm (how do you make the link to just "hear"?Can be found in just about every French junk shop.

The French used to have open cooking fires and as wood/gas stoves came in these small walming ovens remained to keep food walm to heat irons (for ironing) and walm/boil the kettel older people still have them in the kitchen though dont use them.

They are just the same and will cost between free to 50 euros in good condition!
