Hello... I'm drawing up a shortlist of boats to look at and wondering if anyone has any suggestions i might have missed. My wish list is:

37-45ft
Deck Saloon / Pilot House
Medium - Heavy displacement
Ketch or cutter prefered
Up to £60k

Examples of things I've looked at are Nicholson 40DS, Endurance 35/37. A seastream 43 would be nice but over budget.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

In practice, there can be a big difference between a Deck Saloon, and a Pilot House.
With a PH, you have a protected steering position, but your saloon is down below. I have a DS, so obviously I'm biased, but with a DS, not only do you have a protected steering position, but also a comfortable saloon, from which you can watch the world go by, when you are at anchor.
Obviously for sailing, you also want an outside helming position, from which you can see.
Might be too small for you, and over budget, but have a look at a Cromarty 36.

This Rival 41C “Tais” http://www.rivalowners.org.uk/noticeboard/forsale/forsale.htm could be a good buy and has been for sale for a while so may be open to offers, I don't know, this is just a guess. She does not have a deck saloon but there are original Peter Brett (the designer) plans available for a deck saloon and there is at least one that I know of that has had deck saloon fitted. However, I grant that this would be a significant change to have true deck saloon style instead of just a hard top added to a centre cockpit. I can email the drawings if you PM me, should this be of interest to you.

You seem to have asked this question (or variation on the same theme) several times already. Your Deck Saloon / Pilot House criterion covers a wide range of very different boats as Sybarite's list (which is not exhaustive) suggests. However, just drawing up a list is probably not going to get you very far. The reality is there were very few few boats of this broad type built. Most designs were built in very small numbers, so the choice at any one time on the market is very limited. Put your search criteria into Yachtworld to see what I mean. Your biggest constraint is your budget. Even if you can find a boat under that budget, it is likely to be old, possibly home finished and probably needing significant work.

Good luck with your search - you might get a lucky break, but it is a very challenging set of criteria!

Had a similar search criteria last year. As others have suggested, it ends up being quite narrow. In the end, I lost the deck saloon requirement and went with the criteria that were ultimately more essential to me. Of the OP's list, my choice would be an Endurance but finding a good one is difficult as they are rarer than rocking horse s**t (for a good one). Best available at the mo imho is :-

Shame the Vancouver 38 is out of the price range as is likely the Sovereign 40 if you can find one!

Earlier Northwinds may fit the bill

There is a very nice looking Sovereign 40 for sale in Devon but asking a bit over budget at £70k.
