Anyone know which yards around the Solent can be used for delivering a boat on a truck (12m boat with circa 16m mast).

I know most can do it, but cannot think of many that can be easily accessed by a low loader truck. Swanwick is the most obvious one.

Can a large truck get to Lymington Yacht Haven?

Any sugggestions for others. Portsmouth/Gosport/Chichester?

Thanks in advance

Think you will find that all of the major yards can handle that. Certainly Hamble Point and Port Hamble and the Portsmouth/Gosport marinas. Lymington both Yacht Haven and Berthon and Hayling Island marinas also. Your load is nothing out of the ordinary as just about all the marinas/yards have been bases for commissioning new boats as well as handling brokerage.

Seem to recall the lane down to Hamble Point is quite narrow in places with some overhanging trees. Similar thoughts for the road past Berthon then the tight turn into Yacht Haven. So interesting to hear that trucking to those two is possible.

Hamble Point likely to be the priciest anyway, so probably not on the shortlist.

Thx

Trafalgar Wharf at the north end of Portsmouth Harbour. I sold a boat that was on the hard there a few years ago and the buyer had a trucked.

BERTHON have some large deliveries, the need for access with big vehicles is often used by residents of Solent Ave to discourage sailors parking outside their houses.

Port solent should have good access being on the M27 but I cannot recall the access

You might be surprised. all the Hanses and HRs are commissioned there *asd was my Bavaria) and all come in by road. A 57' Hanse was delivered by road at a similar time to my boat (only 10m). Equally Berthon handle very large boats .

Where is the load coming from?
Does it require an escort?

I had a 45 ft flybridge trucked down from scotland and the preferred yards by the haulage co's i spoke to are swanwick and saxon wharf , based on easy access from the motorway . Hope all goes smoothly for you .

This is a pretty dumb question, I doubt there is another equivalent sized area on the whole planet with more options for launching such a sized boat.

I've watched a low loader (with boat on top) bottom out going on the bridge over the railway by Hamble station. It left quite a scrape on the tarmac. But, once past that point they can get the rest of the way with relative ease (provided the traffic coming in the other direction engages brain).

If easy access from the motorway is a factor then Swanwick or Deacons on the other side of the river from Swanwick and usually cheaper as less posh.
