Solent recreational advice

Hi all, following our recent relocation to Shamrock quay, please could you recommend the best spots for kneeboarding, towing inflatables etc.

fraid not sure the exact location, but at the eastern end of the solent, the water is generally crap. might get lucky just west of bembridge, but most times the "chop" lives up to its name.

Would agree - as far from other as possible.


Try off Hamstead ledge (nr newtown Ck) or off Yarmouth beach.

Check your Solent chart. There is a designated waterski area off IOW,just west of entrance to Wooton Creek. I'd stick in there if you don't want to be shouted at. Certainly don't get carried away in areas such as Osbourne Bay over a sunny calm weekend. You won't win any friends or influence people.

What pontoon are you on in Shamrock?

Top of soton water, dedicated water ski area, basically turn right ( sorry starboard ) out of itchen when at VTS and follow channel upto redbridge.
