Solent now?

Got to do a short boat movement in the Eastern Solent soon this morning. Seems like 5 to 6 SSW going NW. BBC radio Solent said Moderate/Rough earlier. Anyone on line that knows what its like right now? No big problem it seems, just want to prepare the willing but slightly novice crew. Haven't got time to look for webcams1

Forecast is on track, visibility won't be good in the drizzle and rain (I am on S'ton docks at the moment). Chimet <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.chimet.co.uk/default.shtm>http://www.chimet.co.uk/default.shtm</A> confirms about 20kts SW at the moment, wave height about 2 feet.

Thanks for the input guys! That was bracing. Mean levels of 27 knots with several periods of 30/33 knots. Bit different from the 6 knots BBC R Solent forecast last night. Surfed into Langstone Harbour at 7.5 knots "over" the water with just reefed mainsail! Not bad with one arm, due to accute tendonitis and frozen shoulder!! Oh well, back to the mouse...

Ouch! You have my sympathies. I was suffering acutely from tennis elbow - op postponed because of SWMBO's illness. I then developed a nicely frozen shoulder, due to the enforced idleness with elbow. The shoulder didnt get better so I popped to hospital for MUA (Manipulation Under Anaesthetic). I was awake and talking in recovery 10 minutes after my lights went out the other side of theatre, and home an hour later, and driving to school 10 minutes after that. Not what the doctor instructed - but there was no pain whatsoever. Although MUA doesnt work every time, for every patient it was brilliant for me, and allowed me to sleep again - as well as take the boat out.

Oh right? I haven't heard of MUA yet. Physio is trying with Ultrasound, Laser and excersises. Poss discussion about Steroid jabs. I'll ask about MUA. Anything!! Thanks

None of the others touched it, as it is a build up of hard tissue in and around the joint. Steriod might help reabsorb it - but you probably need an anaesthetic for that anyway, and as the final part of the MUA they borrow a needle from the vet, and pump steroid right to the source of the problem, having first broken of the lumpy bits by wiggling it around...

Thanks for the info. What about the damaged tendons though, don't they have to repair first? Because, like your Tennis Elbow, they tell me that the Tendons hurting started the shoulder problem. I'm grateful to learn anything at this stage.

Given the enforced year off beacuse of SMBO's illnes, the tendons were doing quite nicely - although I havent yet been bold enough to start playing tennis again. I can now operate both the wheel, and the throttle with the previously damaged arm- so I'm definitely ahead.... and I can sleep without pain.
