Hope you have better luck than I did with a similar question about Soton anchorages a little while back. Not one sensible reply. Guess everybody is rich enough to pay MDLs prices

Okay here are a few.....
Newtown Creek, usually quiet midweek except peak periods.
Newtown, outside the entrance, quieter and free, good holding (only calm conditions)
Keyhaven, just inside the channel.
Ryde, just west of the piers near the small craft moorings, sheletered in southerlies.
Beaulieu just inside the entrance, but expect to be charged unless you leave early.
There are areas in Langstone that you can anchor though I cannot describe where and would have to show you on the chart and you have to be pretty adventurous.
Osbourne bay, only in settled conditions and expect to get some rolling from the shipping.

That\'s not true Jimbo

I seem to remember mentioning Beauliu River entrance and inside Newtown!

I wouldn't use Osborn - I've always found it uncomfortable. Just outside Newtown would be nice in a SW'er.

Alum Bay (overnight, quiet), Totland Bay (overnight/lunch, can be busy in season, bar and restaurant shoreside, shallow), Priory Bay (lunch/overnight, can be a swell), above the Folly in the Medina (overnight/lunch), just inside Fishbourne Creek (tidal lunchstop, lots of ferriies to watch), Gurnard Bay (Lunch, not springs), Thorness Bay (lunch).

Re: Priory Bay ?

Just outside Bembridge, I've used it quite a bit as its sheltered in the normal SW, good place to watch the RTI from!
