solar panels

I am looking to pruchase possible a pair of solar panels but a bit lost in the technical stuff (photvoltaic/monocrystiline etc)
any one know whats good for a boat with regard to being durable etc., or a good book to buy so i can be more informed as to my choice?

The solar panels we are talking about, ie those that produce electricity rather than hot water, are "photovoltaic"
